Whaleworld Eco Trails offers you the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of the Cliff Path in the company of local, FGASA registered guides who will share with you the secrets of the Whale Coast shoreline, from tidal pools to fynbos.
All profits from your guided experience will be used to assist local students who would normally not have access to higher education through Hermanus Varsity Trust (HVT).
The Cliff Path, including fynbos, the unique rocky shoreline and a fascinating, healthy intertidal zone, was incorporated in Fernkloof Nature Reserve in 2000. Fernkloof is a biodiversity hotspot: Nowhere on earth can so many plant species be seen growing in such close proximity.
In season, the Cliff Path is also considered by many experts to be the best land based whale watching spot to observe southern right whales in the world. As Walkerbay is a protected marine reserve you may also see many other marine species, as well as abundant birdlife.
Understanding the ecology of these fascinating ecosystems will awaken a deep appreciation.
