Gillian Hahn has been painting for the past 30 years but only showed her work to the public in 2016 after artist Neil Jonker saw her oil paintings and invited her to be the guest artist at the Baardskeerdersbos Art Route Exhibition. Following the success of her exhibition, she gained the self-confidence to exhibit her work. Gillian has chosen to remain self taught. Over many years she has done her own research, much of it through trial and error. She consciously embarked on this process in an effort to retain her own unique quality and style.
Gillian describes herself as a process painter. Working in a thick impasto style on canvass, she paints purely in the moment allowing the paintings to develop a life of their own without planning the end result.
