Die Plaaskombuis is a traditional South African Farm Kitchen, surrounded with breathtaking views and true Farm Hospitality. With hard work, commitment and pride, the Lötter Family have built a successful Family Restaurant on Hemel-en-Aarde Wine Route and now also home to Lötter Family Wines.

Die Plaaskombuis is the only child friendly restaurant in the Valley with a relaxed, farm-style atmosphere perfect for energetic, barefoot kids to run wild. The spacious restaurant has a secure outside area with a breathtaking mountain view. Ample play area for the kids with plenty of activities, jungle gyms and toys to keep the free range children busy and to have a true farm experience.

Nita Lötter has long dreamt of having her “own” farm stall. She and her husband have owned and lived on Vrede Farm for 25 years, when Jadri (her husband) purchased the farm from his father, Bernardus Johannes Lötter originally from Ertjiesvlei. They started in 1979, by growing vegetables which Jadri took to the Cape Town market in a blue 1963, Chevrolet Truck. This iconic blue truck (still in use on the farm) and the dairy had to move to make space for Die Plaaskombuis. Now the home of classic farm style cooking, nostalgic farm stall, and truly South African Home Made Bakes.

Situated in the beautiful Hemel & Aarde Valley in South Africa’s Overberg, the farm Vrede is home to the finest wines, farm style dining, and genuine South African Hospitality. With its picturesque setting, traditional cuisine and historic charm, Die Plaaskombuis is a great choice for people that love to relax in the countryside.
