Klein River Farmstead

Klein River Farmstead offers an array of exceptional and award-winning South African cheeses.

All cheese is made using age-old artisinal methods on Klein River Farmstead, Stanford.

The pasture fed cows milk is sourced from within 12 km of the Farmstead and is free from hormones and antibiotics, while only the finest imported cultures and ingredients are used.

Once the cheese is made, the heads (or rounds) are kept in one of the seven maturation rooms and aged the traditional manner on wooden shelves.

This is known as Affinage – it is the science and art of cheese maturation. The temperature, lighting and humidity are monitored under very strict conditions while each cheese type has their own very specific needs. Depending on the type of cheese, Affinage may vary from one month to one year.

You can create your own picnic from the new Picnic Shed. Picnics can be enjoyed on the banks of the tranquil Klein River; under the trees on the extensive lawns; or on the veranda of the beautifully renovated Picnic Shed.

Klein River Farmstead is situated on the R326 (7 km outside Stanford).

There is a plethora of friendly farm animals who love children! While the extensive playpark and grounds will keep the little ones entertained for hours!
